My Autograph

I have never had to sign my name so many times in one sitting! We spent the afternoon signing paper upon paper for our home loan application. (Newsflash: we're buying a house). Anyways, I now know how a celebrity feels having to sign fans' books, shirt, and what-nots. After awhile I got a little tired and laxed in my signing, and my name began diminishing in form. After today I've decided to add Signing Your Name a Million Times to my list of reasons why I don't want to be famous. I have to keep this list so that I don't pine for fame. Just kidding.

Thanksgiving...Backwards

Thanksgiving is nearly here, which means a time to get together with family and friends (some annoying and some endearing), eat lots of food, and anticipate the holiday we're really all looking forward to: Christmas. (honestly, Thanksgiving is the stepping stone to Christmas!) Anyways, of course at this time of year it's good to think of things to give thanks for. And I always do in my heart and prayers. But this year I would like to dedicate a different type of blog to this holiday. It's quite the opposite and I do not mean to come off as selfish or ungrateful, because I am very grateful for the Lord's blessings, big and small. So just humor me as you read...

...the list of things I would do if I could:

1. Make a cameo appearance in a movie
2. Be online again in the not-as-magical-as-previous-thought-Cottage
3. Have lunch with Jennifer Garner
4. Drink endless Starbucks frappaccinos with no consequences
5. Spend more than $80 on my loved ones for Christmas
6. Pull-off a Katie Holmes bob haircut
7. Race an Aston Martin
8. Become friends with a certain family of vampires
9. Maintain a good physique without having to sweat (ugh)
10. Be interviewed by Oprah

I Do Believe in Magic, I Do, I Do

Woe is me, for I am undone! The blessing of the internet has left the Cottage. And I keep believing in the magic of the Cottage to bring it back, but I do think the magic has run dry! Our good neighbors moved and took the internet with them. So now I feel disconnected and bombarded with free time. Perhaps Michael and I will better our lives in its place. It may be time to brainstorm on activities to do in place of going online. (I did not want to resolve to that yet, in hopes of some magic, but I think it is best in order to move on).

Fabreeze the Cottage
Christmas shop
Organize my sock drawer
Call a friend
Write a letter
Take up knitting
Sweep the front porch

Ugh, nothing compares to going online!

My Advertisement

I've been considering lately how much I could really use a personal assistant. Trust me when I say I want one for sole practical use, and not as a status symbol. I used to mock celebrities and rich busy people who hire assistants for their so-called busy lives. But I really think I could use one. And I do believe I would make a great boss to work for. I would allow the assistant to have weekends off, every evening off at 6pm, and special holidays off. I would also treat my assistant regularly to Starbucks treats. And I would never yell.
Here is the job description:
1. Answering my phone and taking messages, especially from unknown numbers
2. Keeping in contact with my loan officer, my realtor, and my jobs
3. Keeping my art cart organized and stocked for each lesson
4. Filing legal documents, organizing mail, and informing me of my appointments
5. Running any extra errands

Please apply online.

A Few of My Fave Things...Not Oprah's

I know that Thanksgiving is still a few weeks away, but I would like to start a little early this year giving thanks b/c I have lots to be thankful for. Today I just want to give thanks for simple little things, that way I have more time to give thanks for the biggies that really matter on Thanksgiving day. So here we go....

Old 90s TV talk shows that crack us up: Attitudes (please look it up on YouTube!)

Starbucks seasonal yummies

Games like Scrabble that do frustrate you, but make you a better person in the world of words

Family Wish List website where we have all registered for Christmas--so exciting!

Flair on Facebook that spreads the inside jokes

Flavored stick candy that meets my current candy-cravings

National holidays that honor Veterans and bless my hubby with a day off with his wifey

Thank goodness for these little things!

In the words of Rafikki, "It is time!"

I'm so excited for this day!

It's not Christmas

It's not my birthday

It's not even the first day of vacation

It's VOTING day!

Let me tell you why I'm excited:

1. I get to sneak into one of those booths and make private decisions that no one knows about until I share it
2. I get one of those stickers that makes me feel patriotic
3. All the candidate publicity is OVER--whew!
4. We get to start over with a new president
5. Starbucks and Blue Sky Coffee give out free coffee for voting

Enough said? I think so.

Sooo....go VOTE!
