Our 'Baby-Moon'

Michael surprised me with a little romantic overnight trip at the Fess Parker Inn in Los Olivos. Our friend, who works there, got us a killer deal that included the largest suite in the inn and wonderful breakfast vouchers. It was wonderful to relax and enjoy being away with each other--a last little fling before our Westly Fig comes!

All for Little Fig

This weekend our crib was delivered and we spent some time assembling it. Well, Michael did most of the work; I held things and gave words of encouragement. We also framed some classic covers from a few Golden Books. Slowly, but surely, Westly's nursery is coming together. It should be completely finished in the next few weeks!

Languishing Lady

My mum-in-law called and left a message today, wondering how I was doing as a languishing lady. She was referring to the new Fauf that has finished work and may not go back until.....who knows? It feels good to not have to work, or think about work, and it comes at a good time because I am getting bigger, more sore, and more sleep deprived because of all of the above. It's nice to have insomnia and not have to worry about getting up early to work....I have time to sleep in a little or take a nap the next day.

However, if you know anything about the Fauf, you know she is far from idle. I've been checking off projects on my Do To list. Here's what I've been up to my first week off work:

Deep-cleaned the house: dusted all the blinds, aired the drapes, scrubbed the tub, vacuumed crevices, etc.

Prepped taxes: itemized everything for my job and book business, have everything ready for our tax man, prayed God will be gracious with us this year!

Photos: changed some photos in our frames in the hallway, just for a new look

Author visits: did an author visit at May Grisham, and I have one more tomorrow at Pine Grove

Called Mimi: I haven't had a chance to chat with my grandma in awhile, so we got to catch up with each other

Nursery: sorted through all the great hand-me-down baby clothes from sister-in-law Katie, organized the changer, took inventory of what I still need

Book 3: I printed a draft of my 3rd book I've been working on and plan to pass it onto my editor RC Shaw soon

I did manage to have some fun also.I spent Monday with my hubby who had the day off too. I got to spend the afternoon with a friend who is due any day now with her 3rd baby. I baked some cookies and watched I Love Lucy episodes the other day. I've managed to have energy for my Mighty Mommies workout, and a neighborhood walk. And I've enjoyed feeling/watching Westly move more, and have been talking and singing to him as much as I can.

I'd say, all in all, my first week off work has been pretty good!

My Valentine

How lucky am I to be married to my best friend, the love of my life, and my one and only Valentine all in one?

Pretty lucky.

So I never had a Valentine....I never seemed to have a beau when Feb. 14 came around. When Michael and I met, I wondered if he would be my first Valentine. And I hoped he would be my only Valentine.

Turns out, that's what God had planned. And I learned once more that God's plans are always the most romantic, the most creative, and the most special.

Here's to another Valentine's Day with my one and only Valentine....may we have hundreds more together!

Eight Months Already!

At this point, Westly is practically all developed...his lungs will be the last thing to grow before he comes. Until then, he'll just pack on the pounds. Right now he weights 4 lbs, which puts him in the 78 percentile for weight at this stage. He is very mellow in the womb. He stretches, kicks here and there, but is very gentle. I'm thinking he's gonna be quite mild-mannered. We are so excited to meet him!

Countdowns!

I feel like my life is about count downs right now. While I try to live in the present, I can't help but anticipate future events. Here are some of my countdowns:

Only six more days of work! While I love my job, I am ready to rest and enjoy my last solo moments before little Fig comes.

One more week until a three-day weekend....then we get two Mondays off in a row. I'm looking forward to this most because Michael will be off with me.

Two more weeks until the Oscars! We're excited this year because we've seen most of the Best Picture noms! (I'm rooting for the King's Speech)

I'm not the only one expecting a little bundle of joy. One more week until my brother and sister-in-law are due for Baby Girl Drazin. Also due is my friend Becky who does not know what she's having. Next my friend Whitney is due in March with a baby boy who will undoubtably be Westly's BFF. (I have no idea who this baby is in the picture, but it literally made my laugh out-loud in Starbucks!)

One month until our Santa Maria Target is completely finished with its renovations. We're promised a grocery area with produce.

Two months until my 29th birthday, but being that Westly will probably be here taking all the attention, we'll be celebrating my bday in March. So I only have one months to go!

One and a half months until our dear little Westly Fig is due, and our lives will be forever changed!
