Mama's Helper....?

West here! I love when Mama bakes in the kitchen because I love to be with her and help her. I'll be there are plenty of things she needs in this cupboard.

I get all the cookie sheets and baking tools out for her to use.

She needs this stool to reach the baking ingredients on the top shelf.

I love baking day!

Heat Wave!

Last week we had our annual random heat wave here in Santa Maria. I wouldn't mind it so much if it occured in, say, July or August. But I hate when it comes in October. I had planned on wearing sweaters and sipping hot cider and making corn chowder for dinner. Instead I donned a tank top again, stayed hydrated with ice water, and avoided turning the stove or oven on. On one particularly hot afternoon, West and I had some summer fun outside!
"Is this for me, Mama?"

"I better test the water first."

"Ahhh, feels good!"

"The fun part is getting in and out of my pool."

"Geez, I'm all wet now."

"Mmmm....I think I like heat waves!"

October's Craft

Here's my craft project for October! I decided we needed a whimsy Halloween pennant banner. I used cardstock paper and Sharpies to create these fun characters!

Bon Voyage!

Our dear Courtney has headed back to China this week. She's been here since July, and I was getting used to having her around. On Sunday we had her over after church for a farewell brunch.

I tried out this great egg dish recipe, which turned out to be way yummy. We completed the spread with chocolate croissants and fruit salad.

All week I had been trying to think of a great little farewell gift for her, something small to fit in her suitcase and something useful. I finally decided to make her some notecards. I made her a variety of cards for different holidays, etc.

We'll miss you, Courts!

Our Visit Down South

Last week West and I made the journey down south to spend the week with my family. Westly loves visiting Grammy and Pops and his aunts and uncles and cousin Mina. We spent one morning visiting with Auntie Mallory and Cousin Mina (who is about two months older than West) They had fun playing with each other and giving each other hugs and kisses on command.

Westly spend one afternoon hanging out with Pops in his office and later helping him wash equipment in the back yard. They made a good team!

Westly turned into a little country boy last week, and was sad to leave. We look forward to our next visit!
