I'm Three!

Well, three weeks old, that is!

I'm growing longer and longer, and some of my newborn sleepers are getting a little tight.

I have become quite the mama's boy...my favorite place to be is lying on mama's chest. I have a hard time falling asleep without her.

I get excited and make crazy faces when Daddy talks to me and kisses my cheeks.

I am on the verge of smiling...I really want to, but have not quite coordinated it yet...soon though!

I'm becoming very strong. I can lift my head and keep it up for a few seconds to look around. I can also push with my feet and arch my back when I don't want to be burped.

I am still the cutest thing ever!

Week 2

Our little Fig is 2 weeks old already! Time is sure flying, he's getting bigger, and life is starting to have some normalcy again...well, the new normal anyway. Here's what's happening at the Manor as of late:

Westly's umbilical cord stump finally fell off today! Yay! No more smelly tissue hanging on him!

He was not as needy as he's been, which allowed Mama to visit with some friends, venture to Target, and go on a date to Starbucks with Daddy while Papa Shaw baby-sat.

He peed and pooped on the changing table and now needs a bath, which is good timing since that cord is off. Mama called him a "Naughty boy!" and Daddy laughed and said, "Way to go, son!"

We bought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on DVD and look forward to watching it tonight.

Daddy's been reading to Westly from his Bible storybook...he seems to enjoy it!

Mama is still trying to figure out bedtime with Westly and will be trying something new tonight...

The Shaws are one happy little family!

The Last 20

I'm 29...sort of a strange age. It's an odd number, for starters. It's my last year of my 20's, and that's strange. Everyone says your 20s are your prime...besides dealing with chronic back pain/problems, I'd have to agree. I've had quite a fulfilling decade:

Went to college
Went on several overseas mission trips
Taught elementary school
Moved to a new town
Married my best friend
Landed my dream job of teaching art
Vacationed in Rome, London, Vegas, etc.
Wrote and published two children's books
Birthed my precious son

Life has been good

Return of the Nest

Many of you will remember back in July we had a mother bird make her nest on our front door wreath. She laid 5 eggs and they hatched and she cared for them there until the babies grew up and flew away. We were very careful not to disturb them. The day we discovered the nest of babies was the day we conceived our own little baby. And a few weeks later when we discovered the baby birds had flown the coop was the day we discovered little Westly was nesting inside me. We took this nest as a special sign that God had his eye on us (just like He did on the sparrow), that He was answering our prayers, and that His plan was perfect.

There have been no more birds or nests taking up residence on our front door since last July....

Until yesterday!

When Michael and I returned from our afternoon walk on Sunday afternoon, we discovered a brand new nest in the same wreath on our front door! Michael had been praying for a little sign from God that our Westly was coming soon. And this was it!

We also took it as a reminder from God that again He is watching over us, that His timing is perfect for Westly's birthday, and that our dear little boy is on his way. I would not be shocked if Westly came on his due date.

What can I say, God is quite sentimental!
